Hi all. Hope someone can help with this.

This my bravo decided not to start. The door unlocked with the central locking. Then when put the key in ignition turned it the radio and lights came on etc. Pressed down on clutch, turned key and everything went black. All lights went out, information screen went blank, radio off. It didn't attempt to start. When I went out the car the central locking didn't work so had to use key manually to lock the door.
Anyway later went back to the car. (few hours as had to go to work) went through starting procedure then hillstart came up inactive. But the car started up.

It's running fine now but was hoping someone could shed some light.
It's a fiat bravo 1.4 t-jet 150 sport

Hi. :)

Basic electrical circuit issue. ;)

Either battery (unlikely)

Damp fusebox ( your call)

Bad earth cable (not uncommon)

Look at Grande section..at top in yellow are FAQs . Random electrical.

Shows how to perform tests to see where your time..and cash.. should be spent.:)

Hi Charlie,

It's a brand new battery so that is ruled out straight away.

I will look at the Info and hopefully sort it.

Thanks

Hi. My answer can't beat varescrazy's, but the hill hold thing is something that happens whenever the battery is disconnected. It will remember its settings as soon as you start driving. Same with ESP.

I don't know if this was the cause of the issue or not. But I had a quick look around under the bonnet and the negative connection on the battery wasn't fully tightened. It was so lose it was halfway up the battery terminal and I could lift it off with no resistance.

That is the problem.
ASR, ESP Hill Hold will go away once you do a few turns of the wheel from lock to lock and drive turn off restart car. (the reason you got this error is because when the power got interrupted the steering wheel sensor lost it's home position (0 degree); it will relearn it soon.

The exact same thing happened to me after a battery change.
You need to clean the cable terminal and "remodel" it using clamps and tighten it back on the battery. Its made from soft metal and it deforms, so it needs to be "put back to shape" prior to fitting it on the new battery. Also, before fastening it on the battery terminal push it to the bottom of battery terminal if you can (usually the battery terminal is narrower on top, wider on bottom). This will ensure better tightening. Do this ASAP so it doesnt mess with the electronics.
