I have a 2009 automatic transmission Magnifico, had my clutch + flywheel + bearing swapped a while ago. After a few days I've noticed that the car keeps on pushing forward even when the break pedal is pressed all the way in. I've put the car in neutral but it refused to get into gear after that. Turning the engine off, waiting for a few minutes seemed to help. I took the car back to the shop and they re-programmed the gear. This time the problem was gone for several months but now it's back again.

Someone told me it might be the break pedal switch sensor - could that be true? What else could it be? I lost faith in the shop who did the clutch swap and would rather attempt to fix it myself if possible. Thanks!

Almost certainly the brake pedal switch. These seem to be a bit weak and prone to failure, and when failed cause all sorts of gear issues.

There is a thread on here somewhere with quite a detailed replacement process, really helpful. Have a good search.

It’s a bit hard to get to but you can reset the brake switch yourself.

To reset the switch:
-Under the dash... follow the brake pedal... you will find the switch that is acted upon by the pedal arm.
-remove connector
-turn sensor 90 degrees ...should now pop out
-take some pliers, grab the switch tip and pull it out (~1cm)
-with car running press brake pedal
-put sensor back, release brake pedal.. now the switch tip will automatically reset
-plug in connector.

That is from a post by aurick86 on one of my own threads a while ago, give it a try and see if it does anything for you.

Thanks I will give this a try today. After that I'll try to drive slowly in 1st gear because that's when this thing keeps on happening to me. The bad news are that my car is parked in a street with a steep incline so if the transmission fails I'm kind of screwed :)
