Hi all

My car still lacks power, and occasionally kicks out a cloud of oil smoke, leading me to think the turbo is slowly giving up.

As a means to keep costs down, I plan on removing and inspecting the turbo shortly, and wondered if anybody has replaced just the cartridge rather than fit a recon unit?

How has the reliability been, was it an easy task to do properly etc??

Cheers in advance

Craig

I got a CHRA off ebay ~150euro about one and a half years ago.
Did ~25k km since then.. still going (tuned~190hp)...

Straight forward, easy job... as long as you don't get bolts snapping off.

That's great aurick86, thanks fo for the info. I plan on changing it at the same time as fitting my welded manifold

i have done it on my tjet 150. its an easy job if you can work your hands around and remove the turbo from engine bay. Make sure you get the right CHRA. VL36 and VL37 chra are identical in appearance but vl 36 is slightly larger. ( both will fit on VL36 if yours is vl36.
