Hey guys

So I've just spent the last 5 or 6 hours making a start/some progress on removing the swirl flaps from my 1.9 Multijet that's on 120k miles, it is the plastic type manifold with the internal swirls flap actuator etc

Bad news first (n)

First, I knocked every single bolt I had removed, into the engine bay :bang: :bang: :bang: So will probably never find some of them again haha

Secondly, I have already lost the flap from Cylinder 3 (counting from the left)
I have already had to replace the turbo CHRA as the exhaust fins had been destroyed, and I am now guessing this is because the flap has gone straight through, so hopefully that means I haven't got much damaged to the engine. Unfortunately I don't have a way to check for definite

Third, the entire inlet, EGR section etc were extremely gunked up with carbon and oil. The EGR valve has been blanked off and deleted from the software, so hopefully now that it's been cleaned, it'll stay a bit cleaner for a while longer

Finally, I snapped the plastic hose/connector that attaches to the inlet manifold and feeds coolant in to it. So does anyone know what this part is called and where I could get one from? Will try and get a picture soon for confirmation of it. I'm also thinking possible ordering an 8mm tap and a 8mm to 8mm push barb and fit that as a replacement

Now the good news (y)

I have the swirl flaps removed, everything cleaned up pretty good, but giving it a soak in de-greaser tonight, and hopefully everything will be refitted tomorrow :slayer: :D

Unfortunately that's the only good news I have to go with this haha

I have got to say though, it's been alot easier than I was expecting, so if anyone is wondering whether to try doing it, I highly encourage it!
