Hi there

i have a fiat bravo 2009 1.9 multijet

recently i have had my 3 piece clutch set replaced by my mechanic

the parts were ordered from ebay, they are LUK brand,

when parts arrived mechanic said the Concentric Slave Cylinder did not come with a SEAL also he pointed out it was slightly different to the original fitted loked like aftermarket however spoke to ebay seller appently they dont have or sell seals for this

so my mechanic used the old seal that was in there already on the orignal slave cylinder

jobs done and know its leaking Gear Box Oil from undeneath of car

i have visited mymechanic he said the Concentric Slave Cylinder SEAL Is leaking gear box oil because the seal is broken or dammaged , i have looked every where and searched every where even the dealer i am unable to find the seal for this please can anyone help me

Many Thanks

Are you suggesting he did not install the slave cylinder proply people?

Please advise?

Yes. I just today replaced DMF (LUK), clutch set (Valeo) with concentric slave cilinder (OE Fiat, produced by FTE), also from eBay, and works fine, no leak for today

I dont see problem, take it back to garage to fix IT.
Put new cilinder, contact seller for refund

I have contacted eBay they said I have ordered wrong parts, how could this be when I entered my reg number eBay page stated it is correct parts for my vehcle! Anyway when your purchased your concentric slave cilinder did it come with o ring rubber seal or did you use your old one? My current one is damaged so wil I need to replaced the seal or isit ok without it to install the new css without seal?

Please send concentric slave cilinder o.e eBay link?

Thanks

Getting parts via reg number is always a game of chance. Better off finding the part number via the use of the VIN, and using that to find parts, or alternatively going into a motorfactors and enquiring. Secondly, gearbox oil is in the gear box. The clutch hydrolic assembly uses brake fluid, so your CSC is not leaking gearbox oil.

Either you have a gearbox oil leak from the gearbox, or brake fluid leak from the CSC - determine which before ordering parts.

Look for the parts on shop4parts.com, or email them and ask what you need. If you email and ask them for a page from the parts catalogue, they will provide it quite happily.

Interesting.
How did your mechanic installed wrong part that suppose not to fit??
I buy parts by OEM numbers.
I ordered CSC here (mine is t-jet, M32 gearbox)

It was 60 GBP cheaper than in my local official Fiat store with their discount
It is the same as was original, no difference, same brand (FTE), same look

your CSC looks different?

mines is 1.9 multijet,

can anyone confirm the o ring rubber seal is needed when replacing the csc, my original one snapped so the mechanic said because of this its leaking.

im willing to buy o.e parts, i phoned the fiat dealer they said its £160 they dont know if it comes with rubber seal and if i purchase its non refundable?

the gear box is diferantly leaking oil.

Yo're not making much sense.
What oring are you talking about? where does this oring go?

Post some pictures with the CSC and circle the location of the oring.

I have attached a pic , the seal was broken so mechanic used silicone paste instead and that’s what’s causing the gear oil leak.

The slave cylinder will not leak gearbox oil.
It can only leak brake fluid.

Behind the CSC there is another seal on the gearbox main shaft.. maibe that is to blame.
It's not an oring.

If break fluid is leaking then why the break fluid level always on max, and under the car under gearbox there’s always drips?

My brake fluid reservoir level is always full and on max, does this mean my break fluid is not leaking and it’s gear oil from gear box?

If brake fluid level is fine ...constant
Then look at gearbox oil or engine oil from the rear main seal.

I have checked engine oil from the dipstick that’s normal and on max,
How do I check the gear box oil from the rear main seal please?

Only real way is to remove the gearbox and inspect visually where the problem is.

Also the other day the clutch master cylinder clip snapped off got the vehicle towed to garage and ordered parts from shop4parts for £50 and the labour cost £100 that’s know fixed however mechanic did point out leak & after test drive he said clutch slipping and needs to be replaced. I’m guessing my local mechanic didn’t install proply as I replaced clutch and slave cylinder that’s how this leak acured in the first place

Finally found out what was the cause! This is what I needed! the csc lip seal and rubber o ring seal! Contacted Shop4partss by email They found it have know ordered this and a new slave cylinder wil be getting them replaced soon, hope this fixes the leak!
