Hi folks.
I have a 1.9 mjet sport 150.
I still have a strange rattle vibration before and after replacing the clutch I can not work out.
When changing up gear as soon as the clutch is dipped it rattles and tapers off but not in line with the engine revs or until the pedal is lifted again
If you drive and dip the clutch and rev the engine up and down it gets louder with the revs until you lift off the pedal (either in or out of gear).
If you rev high 3.5-4K with pedal up occasionly it’ll do the same but not as bad.

Any ideas what it could be? I thought it was the release bearing until that was changed or some torsion springs etc but it continued after the new clutch (which needed replacing anyway)

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the replies. Oh no way. DMF I was told it was fine when the clutch was replaced as they stated they would check because of the noise but said it had plenty of life left. Gutted if that’s the case.

If I drive carfully and smooth I don’t get the noise.
It sounds like it’s coming from behind the pedal, more so than the clutch area but I guess the vibrations can travel.

Sounds like radial spring failure to me, I had it on a Kia i owned.

Oh jeeez. Yes then sounds like the DMF, can’t believe it, I wonder how long I have left...

It’s getting to that point now where you keep replacing things you feel obligated to keep the car for loner and fall into that trap.

I do love the Bravo though, so looks like I’ll be keeping it for a few more years if I have the DMF replaced. Then the next thing will go....

Thanks for your help guys

Come on, it's not that bad, the clutch(including the dmf) is just a consumable wear item.
I know the feeling .. it's expensive..
Not sure if the garage should take some responsibility for this.... that is why almost everybody recommends replacing the dmf with the clutch.. to much work to have to do it again.

Wow so I know it’s been a while since I posted this and the topic I posted before about the clutch.
So a few days ago the alternator goes completely, loud whirring sound and gets hot. Battery flat overnight. So I have the alternator changed.
It turns out this rattle I’ve had for over 12 month that I was told was the release bearing/slave and then the DMF was in fact the alternator.
Neither myself or any mechanic that looked at it once suspected the alternator, I feel stupid haha.

Now it’s been replaced the car drives normally no rattled or flutters at all, and come to think of it it make perfect sense! How the noise went in tune with load just as the DMF or clutch would!
So if anyone has similar symptoms check the alternator. I only managed to get 25,000/5 years from the brand new Denso replacement! Crazy

100% dmf gone. Had to replace mine 2 weeks ago along with the clutch, fairly sure the flywheel caused the clutch failure as the clutch was almost in 2 pieces.
