Talking fitted aftermarket seat, disable the Airbag icon

HI all

i managed to get an aftermarket sport seat fitted and replaced the original seat.

Now i am getting the airbag icon, I have the red cable and MES, however, I am not able to disable the icon on the display,

the sport seat is holding me well in the corners, but seeing the Airbag icon is boring.

Can anyone let me know if there anything I can do remove or disable the Airbag icon?

Thanks

You cannot disable the abs error.
At the minute the ABS system is missing a component.
What you need to do is to fool the system into thinking it's complete.

What might help is an weight sensor emulator ... but you will also need some airbag emulators(for the airbags in the oem seats)... no idea how to achieve that, maybe some resistors.. not sure.

there is no ABS error, only the airbag icon which states its missing the driver seat airbag

thanks for the insight.

THAT is the error.
In this case "error"=something that keeps the system from functioning correctly.

The airbag will create a resistance which the system will monitor. If you connect the old seat and use MES to check what the resistance is. Then manually use a resistor soldered in the wiring to fool the system. I would also wire in a fuse. So that if in an accident it tries to fire the airbag you won't create a fire.

Hi,
Does the original seat have a side airbag in it?
If so then as bfbenf says the fact that it is missing from the new seat is causing the fault. The airbag light being on is an MOT. You can fool the system with a resistor of the correct value. DO NOT try to measure the old one with a meter, you may set off the air bag. Reconnect it and use MES. A low current fuse say 500ma in series is a good idea. You have of course reduced the protection in a crash. What did your insurance company say when you told them about the modification ?

The OP's profile says they're in Singapore, so MOT and insurance rules are likely quite different to ours...

Singapore has a vehicle inspection at 3 years and then every other year. I doubt insurance rules on modifications are much different. Singapore has some pretty tough laws.

There are lots of functions that MES can disable. As an example, my front foglights on the Panda, as they've been removed.
MES may be able to disable the side airbags. Then the system will not look for them any more, so no warning light. Worth a try.
