Hi
Been away for a few years, but now back with a Fiat Bravo for my son. A few jobs to do to get things right, first up though is the radio. Heard terrible sttic, so took it out to find a signal booster wired in> All this seemed to do was boost the interference !. Took it out and things are good, but signal is so poor a wafts about when driving fading in and out badly. I think may need new ariel (including base) or even new ariel lead from the HU to the antenna. Any ideas anyone how to replace (remove) a rear roof mounted ariel antenna? Is it roof lining out etc? OR if anyone knows whats going on, can anyone advise a better course of action? Thanks

Just try replacing the aerial first as this helped with mine. However I agree radio reception is not a strong point of the standard head unit.

In the radio HU settings there is an option for far away or local reception... try and toggle that it might be helpful.

Try an airial first as they are just over a tenner. If you need to fit a new wire fasten the new wire to the old one - very securely- and pull it through to the front. You might find it easiest to tow a length of thinner wire through first. I have a feeling however that the aerial the wire runs down a back pillar and then through the floor under the carpet. I am sure i saw it when fitting my towbar wire. Check behind the rear wheel carpets in the boot.

I don't think there is an aerial problem on standard Bravo HU.
Mine in Portugal never let me "muted" and the rds function works fine; from the coast to the remote parts of the country I have always the most important radio stations available.
Maybe your problem is the radio station wave coverage which isn't good enough or you have the local option, on the radio Setup definitions, ON.
