HI all, I have a 1.4 petrol bravo. After giving my brother a jump start my bravo won't start.

When giving the jump start my bravo almost cut out other than that no problems till I turned the engine off now it won't start.

There is fuel in the tank, and the battery has been tested good at two bms stores.

the fault is electrical, central locking, interior lights and radio all stopped working.

The car turns over like normal just won't fire up.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks m

When you jumped the car did you do it correctly? Touch it against anything? Shorted anything out?

Do you have the ability to code scan ?

You'd have to start with the spark plugs. Seeing if your getting voltage to them , if they are sparking. Then move to fuel system.

Hi mate, I did not touch anything but the battery terminal's.

I put a code reader on the odb port but it did not power up the code reader.

I'll check the power to the plugs tomorrow.

Like I said in my post it's a bit strange that the central locking, radio and interior lights don't work.

Any fault on the ignition or feul system, shouldn't affect the central locking etc.

Thanks m

You have to check the fuses...something is blown.
If the scanner didn't get power through the obd port chances are the ecu doesn't have power either.

Sounds like you have blown the maxi fuse and probably other inline fuses...

There is a right way and wrong way to jumping a car from another

First all off... hook up both cars correctly.

Second of all... to do it safley, hook them up without the engine running...

Third, start the car your using to jump the other... then let voltage build in the other battery then try crank it.

If rushing, you could innevitably blow some major fuses on the fuse board located near battery tray

Thank you for the reply chaps, Ivery checked all the small and large fuses with the buzz test on my multi meter.

dtimmins please can you send me a picture of the maxi fuse.

Thanks m

Sorry I've tested the large maxi fuses under the bonnet they are all OK. Could it be a faulty relay?

First thing you should establish communication with the ECU..make sure that is still ok.
download the elearn manual and figure out which fuse does what... use a multimeter and make sure the ECU is getting voltage and has a good ground.

You say the engine cranks so your engine should have a good ground, but check the ECU's as well, (with key to on, you should read 0 volts between ECU and negative battery terminal)

Use a multimeter in the OBD socket to figure out if there is power, between pin 4 and 16, pin 4 and ground, pin 16 and ground. https://i.stack.imgur.com/vJB6W.png

Hi all, mrbrain suggested to check the fuses on the positive terminal. When I out my tester on them they was blown. Replaced them now car running fine. I appreciate the help in getting back on the road. Thanks m
