Hi all another rear axel bush thread.
All I would like to know,is it possible to put car on axel stands and just drop the axel down a bit from the 4 nuts on each side of the chassis on a trolly jack so I can cut out old and press in new bushes
Many thanks

Yes I did just that the other week. First I thought I would take the axle of the car but I found it much easier to just drop it one side at a time.

Thanks for that info m8,I have a press tool on the way so will get on it as soon as it arrives.do you have any tips for me to make the job go smooth as possible

1 I recomend you sand the bushings to make them go in a little bit easier. Mine went in reasonably easy when I did that, except for the last 5-6 mm. Those last 5mm where a pain to push in probably I didn't sand the bushings there.

2 align them the right way

3 the right axle side has to go down much more than the left because of the fuel tank. I took of the shock and the spring to make it possible.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the info m8,I was thinking ov sanding the bushes and axel then using copper grease on both the bushes and axel to help with the pressing stage.when doing 1 side at a time did you have to loosen all the chassis bolt to allow 4 the axel to drop.seems like common sense but just wanted to make sure.I know they are pressed in from inside out but witch way round do they go.cheers pal

You losen the 4 chassis bolt one side at the time letting just one side hang down.

The rubbery thing goes in first.
