I very much favour pagid pads and discs ,
If budget tight pagid pads and budget discs.

Pagid discs come with a silver spray coating that doesn't have to be removed prior to using brakes , a bonus.

Pads:
Bosch pads are great, i have them now,.. they seem like the dust is a bit lower than the previous Textar (although Textar might actually produce the Bosch pads, the compound is concertedly different).
Textar were really good (but a bit dusty).
I wanted to try Pagid this time.. but they were not available in a reasonable time).
I had no squeak as long as the mounting shims were in good condition (decently clean and not damaged)
Stay away from Delphi -crap! massive brake fade as well as squeak (no matter the condition of the shims)

Discs:
I have some Ferodo on the back because they were affordable, they have been really good.
On the front i have Mtec slotted and drilled (eBay), they are a bit noisy (only with the windows down) i can hear a sound like a bike with a paying card running over the spokes. I would now choose only drilled. These were pretty cheap as well but really nice quality.

So buy some new shims/mounting hardware as well.

I replaced the original brakes with ATE discs and pads (front/back) and I can only recommend it. For my father I ordered Bosch discs/pads and they produce quite a load squeak at low speeds. Given that the price is more or less the same, the choice is clear.

Hi,
hope you don't me jumping on this thread- seemed silly to start a new one.
I also need new brake discs, and am going to buy parts myself and get help fitting them, but I have a potentially...silly question.
looking on euro car parts and other sites, they offer me two different sized brake discs for my car. Is there any way of telling which ones i need, without removing the old ones yet?
GSF car parts only offers me one size when i type in reg number, euro car parts offers me too, and when getting quotes for parts from garages they didn't say anything about different sizes.
any advice?

I'd recommend EBC Greenstuff pads - not the cheapest (although not the most expensive either), but seem to be the best for stopping, smoothness, lack of squeal and lack of dust out of ones I've tried.
I second this one.

Stay away from Black Diamond. Crap quality + Squealing
