Hi guys and girls,

I have a problem with my engine.
I came home from work today and I smelled some strange smell a bit like smell. I found it odd, so I opened the hood.. my engine is covered with oil.
The thing is that this happened the second time after couple of months ago.
The first time the garage told me that I forgot to push dipstick all the way in because it was pushed out a little at that time. They also checked the vent system on engine and it was clean.
But now it happened again and I'm sure (100%) that I triple checked if dipstick is all the way in last time as I checked.

So now I wonder :

- is it possible that it could be oil problem, because on last change I filled it with Aral High Tronic that still matches the ACEA C3 standard. The oil volume was half from min to max before this incident, and now there is still a bit above the minimum. So I must have lost aprox half litre.

- or could it be that the rubber seal on dipstick is worn off and the pressure pushes dipstick out ?

My car has 157000 km and the engine has full power as when was new, so I'm guessing it shouldn't be problems with it.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,
Slovenian guy

The oil is not the problem. the problem is obviously from the valve cover/crank case ventilation system.

The system on the t-jet is a bit complicated with some uni-directional valves and some baffling...etc.
I would not be sure on the way they checked that system... it has to be removed from the car, then clear the muck/sludge from the valve cover hole...
I've installed a catch can on my t-jet... but had to remove it through winter because to much condensation(water) was getting caught in it like 1 liter every 2000 km

Ah, you mean to remove the valve cover ? But where is that cover hole ?

The circled part is the factory catch can... the thing that should filer the oil and let it flow back into the engine; and let the crank case pressure go to the inlet manifold.

Your problem is either that either the valves in that either the hole that the gases go to that.

Very big thanks.
I'll drive to garage on Monday and tell them to check that can - the valves and hole.

Did you end up solving this? I've got the same issue during winter with t-jet 150. I've changed the factory catch can for a new one but it happened anyway, only during -5.

The rest of the story is here with the answers
