I was trying to teach a friend to drive, she had put her foot to the accelerator and said "it's not working" so after driving myself I found the car was occasionally not responding to the accelerator unless I lifted my foot off and reapplied it. I had remembered when my clutch was slipping that if cruise control tried to accelerate it would cut out during the slip cause the same feeing of deceleration. So I tried to turn it on.... All the lights for it came on and the display said it was on, but is totally unresponsive other than that. I'm thinking this may be a throttle position sensor? Would really appreciate if some could reply asap. I have to do a 50 mile drive home in a minute!!!!

Not sure if relevant but I've been getting a really rapid tapping sound occouring when I hit 70 or 80 mph for a while now. I've been drowining out with the radio.

Correction. It's not in limp mode, it just will not respond to the accelrator being pressed so speed decreases.

can you rev the engine normally when in neutral / parked..?

when you try and pull away in 1st gear WITHOUT touching the throttle, do the revs rise ( anti-stall)..just CAREFULLY raise the clutch pedal and see;)

TBH - I'd call the breakdown after these issues..safer than being stranded at the side of the the road in the dark,

No, my revs actually drop. But the case still doesn't steal. I have only just had a new clutch fitted though. What do you think that may be? Also. My cruise control has now just switched itself off. Totally unresponsive. No lights. No readout

I don't understand the "Case / Steal" comment..

eitherway you've got an electrical issue, :(
quite possibly caused by the clutch work:bang:

( a LOT of electrical stuff has to be unplugged/removed to get the gearbox off the car and access the clutch)

did everything work o.k. for a few days / hundreds of miles after it was done..??

with your faults..normally the best thing here is ;

1, disconnect battery
2, clean all the earth connections from the batterys Black lead( you may find one is still loose from clutch job)

3,check all surrounding wiring..looking for "empty" plugs;)

4, reconnect battery power

turn on cars Ignition ( Do NOT START YET..!!)
watch all the lights go ON , then OFF ( self-test) switch the cruise stalk, do you get the dash symbol..??

If it's still not right,
either contact the place that did the clutch( get them to check it over)

or plug into the cars computer / ECU and scan for faults,
should say no communication, etc for certain circuits / devices.

Fiat's kit for this is called "examiner" , I use a cheaper Forum backed kit called MultiECUScan.. does the same thing for a fraction of the price,
where is the car based..??

EDIT - your 70mph noise.. is that "new" also..??
