Technical Bravo 1.9diesele Multijet - Check engine light

Just bought my Fiat Bravo 1.9d multi jet. 88k miles on the clock, test drived it for a while, everything seem to be ok. The dealer brought it over to my place (approximately 20miles drive) everything was ok while I received the car.

I got it on the road for a quick run and back to the garage (the car was low on fuel upon delivery).

2 days later (today) I switched it on, drove to a Shell brach, filled up some fuel (I got the Low Fuel indication popped up on my way there). Immediately after I filled up the car and started the engine, I got the "Check Engine" light on. Had a quick look under the hood, no obvious leakage orang obvious problem, the engine oil was changed 4-5k miles ago, everything seem to be ok. No power loss, no stalling while I speed up, everything seem to be ok. Switched on and off the car 5-6 times after 10-15miles of driving, everything is normal, but the check engine light remains on.

I will drive it to the dealer during the next week for a quick check and read the error code, but could this be because of crappy fuel ? I'm concerned because I use this Shell branch quite often, so I don't know if I should change to another one just to be safe?

the check engine light is normally due to an underbonnet sensor getting a not-expected reading..,
unlikely to be fuel quality..

after only 2 day's of ownership,
I'd be expecting an existing fault.. worth using a decent code reader.., and see if the fault has been stored for the last THOUSAND miles..

Be civil with the dealer, but remember that even if there is no explicit warranty there is still requirement of "fit for purpose". The dealer has a legal responsibility to sort the problem out. Keep a note of the date and time of any calls or visits just in case of problems later.

I'm not annoyed or anything with the dealer, I know that electronics can be a pain sometimes. It could be nothing to be honest. I contacted him and he (seemed) to be surprised himself as he drove the car for ~200miles (or that's what he said) and he had no problem, and I drove it for a while before any problem.

The fact that the light came up the exact moment that I filled the car made me quite suspicious about any fuel - pump problem.

I went out for another small trip, the moment I inserted the key in I got a " check glow plug" message, and the check engine light remained on. It could be the problem. Either way, I am using a company car at the moment and not driving the Bravo, I'll have it checked with the dealer, he seemed happy to help me sort it out.

I paid extra for 12months warranty so, I'm covered for pretty much everything.

The "problems" that I discovered were more or less the common Bravo (and Fiat) problems.

The diagnostic for the "Check engine" message came out as a P0401 - EGR valve. I'm not too worried about that, I suppose the valve will need some cleaning or changing worst case scenario. Could be worse, I'm happy with this.

As I said above I am having the "check glow plugs" message every now and then, so maybe one of them (or all of them) need changing. Again, could be worse, minor problem.

My "worst" problem which I didn't know that I had to check before I got the car is the Climate Control problem. Hot - cold is adjusted perfectly on the drivers and passengers seat. The only problem is that I get the "Buzzing sound" on the passengers side and I don't get full power blow from the leg vent. Bad news is that I will have to change the whole actuator system at some point.

Any chance that these will be covered by the 12month warranty that I purchased or should it be covered by the dealer?
