Hi everyone :)

I need help from any mechanics in this group
Basically I've got an issue which is driving me crazy.
It's hard to explain in a few words.
70 percent of driving now, the power doesn't feel as good as it should. Putting my foot down doesn't give me the push back in my seat and is normally would.
Now..... what I've noticed is when it's in this mode, letting the car accelerate in 2nd gear with very little throttle causes the engine to jerk at I think around 2k revs. Also...if I'm in 3rd and it doesn't give me the power it usually would, putting it straight into second and flooring it is strange. When the gear is engaged and acceleration kicks in the engine kinda shakes for half a second and then starts accelerating. It's strange. So yeah whatever gear it doesn't matter it just doesn't feel as powerful as it usually should be. This is a lot of the time now ? I was at a red light today and it went green. I started to accelerate and it felt like it had no power in first gear....I changed to second and it felt okay...
Just as a bit more info....sometimes when I have this problem, if I'm lucky enough to get stuck at some traffic lights, I'll turn off the car and start it again. Sometimes that brings back the engine to it's normal power! So it's very strange.....
Has anyone got any ideas? I really want to get it fixed but can't see how a garage would have a clue...it's had a diagnostics machine put through it and it shows up no codes :( Any ideas?

Cars done 50,000 miles.
Serviced 2000 miles ago. New oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and new glow plugs.

1) EASY: Check the brake lights aren't sticking on, car thinks you are braking so wont let you accelerate at the same time.

2) HARDER If that doesn't work, clean the EGR valve which may be sticking open. An early thread on this was titled "Nothing, Nothing, Whoosh", descriptive of power coming in at 2000 rpm

I would focus on checking 3 things:

1- EGR cleaning
2- Getting the turbo boost checked
3- Ensure DPF is clean and regenerating on long runs.

Does the car warm up OK? i.e. the temperature rises and stays in middle quickly? can be a case of EGR thermostat as well.

good luck with the fix

It isn't the brake lights. I'd love the clean the EGR but how do I get do it?

Thank you!
Do you know how to get to the EGR?
I'll see if there's a way I can get someone to check the boost :)

Sounds similar to the problem we hard with our tjet. Brake light switch, behind the brake pedal. We didn't notice the brake lights externally coming on, but suffer loss of power ever so similar to what you describe. Parts only bout £15-20 on shop 4 parts and it's easy enough to do yourself.
