Hello everyone,

I have a 2007 Bravo Tjet 150. I have an issue with Cylinder 1 misfire. The latest was today. I replaced the plug with an old but working one just for the time being and all is good again But for how long? The plug that gets removed it always wet, black and slightly gunky. The problem reoccurs every 6 months or so. I've changed the coil for a brand new one but the problem still reoccurs. It's also consuming oil, within the guidelines though I'm told. It's not smoky or oily or wet but I still need to keep a close eye on oil levels. It drives fine most of the time but with the occasional hesitancy when going for the throttle. I've decided that it does this after driving down a hill in gear with no throttle. Once at the bottom of the hill I go for the throttle, it hesitates then absolutely flies. Power is definitely there still. I've read other similar threads regarding valve seal and piston rings. I'm not sure whether this is a problem that I need to keep an eye on until it materialises into something bigger or to get it looked at properly before it does go kaput.
Any thoughts and opinions would be helpful. Cheers! :)

Hi varesecrazy,
Engine management light flashes when driving as soon as it starts misfiring. I think it flashes to warn of damage to CAT as too much unburnt fuel is going through it. I have a code reader which reads P0301, misfire cylinder 1. Plugs were all brand new about 6 months ago using the NGK specified plug. Oil is changed every year and that was last done last June with the MOT. Oil type is 5w 40. I don't buy expensive oil now as it consumes it slowly anyway. I think I may start checking the plug condition every month or so and see how much change there is in them. I'm guessing the one on cylinder one will slowly get covered in oil. :-(
