Hi

Well after a few months a free trouble motoring I have my first problem with the car, as per title my o2 sensor seams to be broken. At first I was going to buy a new sensor and fit it my self, as is an easy job but after a saw the price of the sensor I want to make sure I made the correct diagnostic.

Symptoms :
1=Engine management light on:slayer:

2=car jerks on steady low rpm cruising(1300 rpm to 1500 rpm) 90% of the time engine is cold, put my foot down for a few second fix this until next cold run.

3=The weird one, When the tank is full with premium diesel( v power) the engine management light goes off and comes back after a few miles(25% fuel used)...now I fill up once a week so it could be a coincidence as it happened only twice.

4= Ecu fault code read as O2 Sensor(lambda) low voltage bank 1 sensor 1 Error P0136

5= I can hear noises from the engine bay sometime like a rumbling.."quruk.quruk quruk", its more frequent when the air-con is On....so I think it unrelated

Let me know what you think, the sensor is around 140 but I found this website www.shop4parts.co.uk which sell it a bit cheaper, as anyone used this site before?

After this I hope to mod a few things(remap and exhaust back box as a priority)

thanks

Shop4parts is good, bought a sensor from them for my tjet a few weeks ago, also get discount for being on FF

O2 sensor is a petrol item, as I'd expect from the description of a 2.0 165 car. Hopefully you've not been trying to run it on diesel fuel.

Sop4Parts are very good. But make sure you get a sensor with the correct plug already fitted. Having to solder on a 'universal' one can upset the voltages dues to poor connections.

The sensor giving the faulty reading is the top (or first) one (Pre-cat). There will be a second one after the cat. If they are both the same, swapping them will determine if it is actually the fault, but from the fault code I'd be buying a new sensor.

It has been in there a long time. It will not want to come out.
Douse it in PlusGas, every day for a couple of days.
Run the engine until warm, to help release the sensor.
Use a good fitting spanner, mind the heat, and be prepared to swear a little.

I would be hoping he HAS been using diesel

The 2.0 is a diesel, petrol only came in a choice of 3 1.4 (90bhp, 120 or 150)

I was thinking of the original Bravo/Brava, where the 2.0 was the 5cyl petrol. I hadn't realised that the last had a 2.0 diesel, rather than the 1.9 diesel.

Is this 2.0 diesel the Vauxhall Vectra engine also used in the Croma, or did Fiat make their own?

Does it really have an oxygen sensor? I'm surprised in any diesel it would survive for long without being coated in soot.

Thanks for the reply.
I had a chat with my mechanic and he told he would only charge 20 pound labour to replace it, so I will let him do it but I will buy the part from shop4part.to clear things up, the car is a diesel 2.0.the 1.9 was year 2007 to 2009 while the 2.0 was introduced from 2009
