Hi guys!

I know i'm new and i haven't properly introduced myself, but i promise i will as soon as i solve this issue.

I have a 2009 FIAT BRAVO 1.6 jtd, just today i made an oil and filter change as the past 3 years. But today all hell broke lose when i fired the engine! I have a huge oil leak from a pipe(tube) under the oil filter location.

I can't seem to find, what the hell is that pipe supposed to be, i checked everywhere if i pulled of something from that pipe when i was cleaning around that part with a rag.

I'm completly lost now, because i can't find anything on the subject or any picture of the engine (1.6 jtd 107hp) around that location so i could see what i'm missing.

Please help if you can, i'm quite desperate:eek:. If anyone could make me a picture of that part of the engine (around the oil filter) i own him a beer, even if i send it with a postman :).

A picture of the "pipe"

that's the oil drain pipe screw the filter on another 1/2 inch and it will stop leaking

I thought so that is some kind of drain, but is it possibile for only the filter not being screwed in enough (maybe the orings are bad, its aftermarket stuff) causing such a massive gushing of oil from that pipe (like 1 liter got through it when i started the engine)? Today i will buy a original fiat filter and seals and try it out :)

no it just needs screwing in more that pipe is to let the oil when you change the filter so as not to make it to messy I all ways put some plastic tube on it into my oil bucket to drain oil out before taking filter out. That's why it has 2 o rings. Just screw it on so no o ring showing and all will be well

Hi!

I solved the problem today, the problem was the bigger oring seal around the plastic housing. It was to big and a little bit harder then the original, so the filter didn't tightened fully (and i tightened as much as a could and with a filter wrench and it wouldn't go further as in picture)

I bought an original one with the original oring, it fitted nicely of course and tightened fully.

P.S.

The offending oring came with the FILTRON oil filter...guess i will never buy it again :)
