After 16 years of Fiat / Alfa ownership, I'm sad to say I sold my last this week. It was my trusty 2009 Bravo 2.0 Multijet 165 Sport, which was an excellent workhorse car.

I had 2 problems with the car in the 6 years of running this one: un-nerving DPF regenerations whilst driving and a water pump failure on a hot day which left me at the side of the road.

I got used to the regen cycles and, thanks to advice from this forum, I became more tolerant driving as smoothly as possible through them (cruise control really helped here). Once i did this, it really became a non issue.

The water pump issue was simple early failure (at about 63k - get yours checked early) which shredded the cam belt. The little beauty clung on though and kept everything in time so no further damage was done to the engine.

All electrics were sound, the Blue and me didn't enjoy my iPhone upgrade much, but mostly ok, no - I repeat NO bulbs blew for the 6 years.

Overall the ownership experience was good and I've always loved the looks and the immense torque to pull me along effortlessly. I'm going to miss it.

Our family needs a bigger car, so have moved on to a Merc estate (2nd hand with a service contract of course)

Thanks all and good luck with all your lovely motors! (y)
