Hi everyone, before I start my car is a 2008 Bravo Multijet 1.9 Diesel

I seem to have a issue with my coolant at the moment. It started when I had to pull over after my engine temp light came on briefly only to realise there was no coolant left. I've had my car over 2 years now and the coolant level has never dropped before.

I filled it back up and took it to the garage the next day. They ran a pressure test on the engine and the results came back as inconclusive. They said there were no obvious leaks and the pressure didn't change at all during the test (about one hour). They gave me a few options as they mentioned it could be the head gasket on its way out, but I decided to keep an eye on the level for a couple of days. They seemed confused by the issue!

A few more details. I drive about 250 miles a week, the consistenty of the oil is normal, the car starts perfectly and it doesn't drive or feel any different.

Is it something to do with the heating? A cracked pipe somewhere? I'm not going to pretend I know much but this issue has genuinely confused me! Should I seek a second/third opinion?

I checked the other threads and nothing too similar showed up. Apologies also if this thread is in the wrong place!

Thanks
Jack

I had a similar issue with my 1.4 Stilo. Radiator was leaking after some minor corrosion. It was replaced and as you'd expect, the coolant stopped going down :D

Touch your Radiator with your Hand. If your hand is abit wet then yeah your Radiator needs changing.

I had this problem with my Coolant I used Radiator Repair Leak, Seemed to have fixed the Problem mix it with your Coolant.

I had the same problem with my 1.9 m-jet a few weeks back and was all down to the radiator got a new one and got it fitted all for around £80.

Oddly the same thing has just happened to my Dad's Multijet Bravo. When we filled it back up though it was pressurising the coolant system straight away and you could see white smoke (unburnt diesel in exhaust gas?) coming from the expansion tank. Head gasket has gone, hoping the head isn't cracked. Had just ventured over to this forum to see if it was a common occurrence.

i have the same issue, (n) is there anything wrong with placing a dye in the water and using a uv light to find out where the leak is? cheers
