So i have had my Bravo for just under a week. Now the fuel gauge showed at just over 3/4 then it dippd just under that. Today I have just done light town driving. All of a sudden it diiped back over 3\4 then went under again a bit then dropped to in between a half and 3/4 then went back to 3/4 and little under again.

What is that about? Is Fiat like this? I was told by a friend he had a Fiat when he was younger and the gauge was always dipping all over the place, was a Fiat thing that nothing was wrong. My gauge hasn't suddenly dipped to high or to low but it does up and down a tad.

I think that it is nothing wrong with your car, try another gas station or if you are filling it up, wait a few seconds after it is full so the air escapes and try pouring in some more fuel. Than observe. It can happen from time to time but it is very rare. At least it was so with my car, like foru or five times.

I have been driving since September 2011 and my first car was a Mazda 3 2005. I was soooo used to that car and the fuel gauge would never dip back and forth, it would always go lower and lower till you had to fill up. So seeing this has thrown me a tad. I picked the car up from London and drove it to Bedford where i live and it didn't even use 1/4. I have a 1.9. Since then it has gone down to about 3/4 full and this was where it was at last night. Today I have done some light town driving and it suddenly dipped to between 1/2 and 3/4 then back over to 3/4 then just under it to back down between 1/2 and 3/4.

I filled the car up last Friday. But today the gauge just keeps dipping back and forth but not massive jumps, smallish . To me it seemed like a faulty gauge that dips back and forth but maybe some gauges are like this but I have been so used to my Mazda that little things on this Bravo makes me think this car has issues lol. I won't be filling up now till it gets low and do what you suggested.

So Fiat Bravo gauges can be like this then?

I dont know how the bravo tank is constructed but I once had a Strada which had a loose baffle in the tank . The gauge sender was all over the place because the baffle fouled the sensor. Took us and Fiat motor sales ages to work out what was wrong . (New tank eventually of course) Just a thought.

Hmmm I dont want to investigate unless its damaged. And i have spoken to few people who have float tanks and this can often happen. Its not all over the place, just tiny dips.

Could be as simple as the angle the car is park when you start up.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it and just drive and enjoy your Bravo :)

That's what I said. The float in my Punto was located at the front left of the tank I believe. I told him a story of owning my Grande and parking up the side of an embankment. I had half a tank in there but when I got back in my fuel light was on :p I watched it rise to half a tank whilst driving.

Think you guys may be right. Cheers.

And yes I will certainly enjoying my Bravo, lovely car to drive!! BTW...he is a she lol. Yes i am a woman who knows more then most girls lol, that cause of my dad.

Oh right. My apologies. Hard to tell with usernames on forums.

Its ok, don't worry. The fcuk is for French Connection UK. Well my gauge has been stable now. Still shifting teeny bit buts thats when parked on an uneven surface. I am not keen on this floater way of checking how much fuel you have. My Mazda before when parked on steep hills or roads where it dips nearing pavements or going up or down hill the gauge would never flex. I am too used to my old car but the Bravo is a much nicer car and i love the way it drives.
