This evening I managed to knock the rear view mirror clean off the windscreen. Any advice on how to re attach it would be greatly appreciated.

mine's done the same, I've tried various industrial tapes and the Halfords option (Loctite 319) but none have worked. My local windcreen place is over 20 miles away so until I have more time I have no rear view mirror! The Ford pad looks interesting but it would need to be a couple of millimetres thick to make contact with both surfaces, it's slightly recessed from the surrounding mouldings.

Thats strange, mine was completely flush and the pad worked a treat. The pad is a little over 1mm thick. Try getting two?

It's a good idea to gently warm the windscreen up with a hair dryer before sticking the mirror back on. Then hold it tight for five minutes or so before letting go.

I went over it before with white spirit, every time it held for a while.

I went into a local windscreen place and they stuck the bracket on for me with some of their proper windscreen glue. It cost me £5 but saves wasting money on some glue from Halfords which would probably fail in summertime

Bracket? Mine is one whole assembly that sticks to the windscreen. No seperate bracket.

The ball joint for the mirror adjustment is very stiff so it's no wonder it fell off. Make sure you lubricate that a bit before you put the mirror back on. That way it will require less force when you need to adjust it. :)

It happened on my mk2b punto so the setup is probably different to a Bravo

It's going back to the dealer Monday for another problem, if they don't sort it I'll give your suggestion a go. Cheers.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I got the loctite glue and to date it's holding fine. The reviews on amazon also suggested heating the screen and cleaning with a solvent which I did.
