I've been putting a few threads on recently as my Bravo seems to have a number of little problems I need to resolve!

Up until about 2 weeks ago the cruise control worked great. Suddenly it will no longer switch on. If I put the cruise switch to 'on' I get nothing. The green light on the dash does not come on and cruise does not work.

Does anybody know what commonly causes the CC to stop working on the Bravo?

The car is a 2008 1.9 8v Dynamic. Thanks:)

Other problems:

Reverse Light keeps blowing - bad earth?
Fault codes P0111 and P0101 - EGR has been replaced recently as has the MAP sensor. New MAF has been ordered and I am hoping this will clear these faults.

No other problems (touch wood!!).

Not sure if the car has ESP - its the Dynamic model and I beleive ESP/ASR is an optional extra.

I'll disconnect the battery for an hour tonight and see if anything changes.

Ocassionally when putting the cruise into the on position the green light does flash on for a split second and then the screen states - Cruise Control Off.

I believe the Cruise control only comes with ESP.

It might just be as simple as a loose connection on the ECU side or the connector to the stalk.
Check those connections first.
Then might be worth checking to see if the lever itself is making good contact ( a multimeter is great for this!!!)The on position on the lever simply creates a contact between two wires..
Then as a last resort.... find the two wires that you need to connect to engage the CC.
check to see they are ok. then try a direct connection.

If you do not trust yourself to do a good job, take it to an electrician.

Now scanned the ECU with MultiECUScan and it tells me the Brake switch is knackered. Before I replace this I wonder if anyone can clarify something for me; how do the brake lights still operate if the switch is capput?

Its picked up a fault with the way it's been operating and sending signals, might be as simple as hitting brake and accelerator at the same time. I'd just reset the fault and see if it returns.

My cruise control worked fine when I had brake switch fault on the ECU though.

break switch is a kind of potentiometer... so some minimum/irregular values dos not effect the general driving or break lights, but cc is directly getting signal from it, so does not work. it is not an expensive part, better to change than try to repair...

The brake switch is a simple double contact. It's not a potentiometer.
Before you go out and get a new one just perform the switch adjustment procedure; it as a self adjusting rod that an go out of adjustment.
With the engine on( , press the brake pedal , remove the switch from it's holder ( twist off) ..get a pair of pliers and pull on the plastic rod( it should get bigger), press the brake pedal, place back in it's location and release the brake pedal ( wen you elease the brake pedal the switch will self adjust to the correct length.

Thanks everyone. Turned out to be the Reverse Light circuit. Basically the connections from the loom to the gearbox had come out and were making contact with each other/part of the car. This was blowing the fuse (35a).

I knew the reverse light wasn't working and I knew the fuse blew every time I replaced it. What I didn't know was that the fuse also sits on the circuit for the brake light switch and Air Flow Meter.

I had also been getting P0101 and P0111 fault codes (Air flow meter) and now I have reconnected these wires the faults are cleared, the reverse light is working and the cruise control is back on!!

Italian Electrics at their best!!!
