It would seem they are simply put there to tick the box on the spec sheet to say it comes with cup holders. They appear to be completely useless. If you manage to find a cup or can that will fit it will just fall over as soon as you brake which could be quite dangerous.

Try a takeaway 4oz espresso cup
Cans fit fine in mine, either normal 330ml or 500ml, along with medium and large McDonald's drink cups :spin:

I can confirm that Maccy D's coffee cups also fit perfectly :yum:
I think others have suggested fitting one of those aftermarket cup-holder ashtrays with removable lid, some people pun thin rubber O-rings on those so hey feel more secure.
You can then put your drink in that ashtray. It's taller and lacks the hole in the side ( better support when braking and accelerating )

no just walk in, pick up a paper my waitrose card if you don't have one, show it to the people in the cafe or at customer services if using self serve machine, and get free tea or coffee every day drink in or takeaway.
some times i get 1 on the way into town and 1 on the way out as waitrose is on route.
rarely do i ever buy any thing
if using the self serve machine add an extra shot of espresso before pressing the coffee button, dont fill whole cup with expresso it makes you mad and you need to pee every 5 minutes.
Its proper coffee from beans too no instant muck

Awesome, free coffee is always good. They're building a new waitrose where I live too
Never understood all the excitement about cup holders, if fiat were to fit a bean to cup espresso machine THAT would be good!
