Hi guys

I am buying a 2009 t-jet 1.4 88kW with 69000km Bravo, but just before I bought it, the engine light came up. So I went to the Fiat dealer and they connected the car to the OBD and it threw out P0240 Turbocharger Boost Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance. The service guy said that it does not even turn the turbo when the throttle is pressed and the computer which was connected at the time did not show the turbo spinning. Car is running normally except there is a small patch of oil under the turbo. Someone the service said that the turbo is broken, the second opinion said that it must be the selenoid or electro valve, which pumps air into the turbo. Does any of you guys have or had similar problem and what was the solution at the end? Would you buy such a car knowing that to fix the issue it could be from 200EUR up to 1000EUR knowing that the price has been lowered by the seller for at least 1000EUR in the first place.

If I were you, I'd only buy the car AFTER the seller got the problem solved... A broken turbo is a serious issue, if any bits of it found their way into the engine, it could have sustained internal damage, so... My advice is, either find another car to buy, or make sure the problem is completely solved and the engine is fully checked...

But it that were true(if some parts from turbo what ever the size would peel or fall off) wouldn't the engine run differently or the computer would throw out some other failure code? The price of the car is lowered so much that they will not pay for fixing it. It is kind of an auction take it or leave it. And I do not what to do, I know I could throw away money for this car, or that I could get it fixed and still have a good car. If someone had an idea or if knows if the turbos have problems on tjet. I would buy it if the expenses to fix it would not rise above 1k EUR.

I think you need to be realistic with this , probably the only was round this is a guaranteed recon turbo , generally once a turbo starts acting up this is the only real solution .
