Hi guys...

This has probably been asked many times before (but I'm having a tough day and can't find anything about it!)

What is the 'dome' on the top/middle of the dashboard, just inside the windscreen?

Is this some kind of government tracking device or something?

Many thanks,

Rob

If you've got automatic lights, it would have the light sensor there. Most cars don't have it, and its just a dummy cover.

I've thought it would be a handy spot to feed out a supply to a satnac cradle. However, actually doing it..............

I was told it is the motion sensor for the internal alarm system? That was in a mito though. Interior is almost identical to the grande punto but i am aware this is about a bravo.

its a sensor array, i just had to buy one as my dome is missing

at present there are 2 sensor elements visible, unsure of the functionality but i think it is either ultrasonic sensors for the alarm or optical sensors for the auto headlamps

i was asked if my car had climate control as this makes the part different, so it may include a thermistor to measure windscreen area temp as well

Must admit I have wondered this a lot as well.

My car has automatic climate control, so I guess it's got something to do with that, going by what others have said.

It doesn't have automatic headlights (thankfully) so can't be anything to do with that...
