My 2.0 multijet Bravo is coming up for a service. I thought I'd tried a reputable local garage as I have no confidence in the dealer.

Of course, they will put any oil in I like however they said they use Shell oils as standard and would obviously use the correct spec for a car with a DPF fitted. However I just wondered if Shell oils were any good??

Thanks

Shell have a lube match service if you go to www.shell.co.uk and halfway down is the lube match. this should tell you what product to use in your car.

I used Shell Helix Ultra Extra in my 1.9 JTD about a month ago. All seems fine so far, did a lot of reading up before I got it. Seemed like the best choice at the time £35 from ECP with a 30% discount code as usual.

Really?

Didn't think Selenia was that expensive.

Well it's £44.88 for 5 litres on shop4parts.co.uk + delivery. That works out just shy of £9 per litre.

Is there somewhere cheaper to buy it?

What about Petronas Syntium oils as they manufacturer Selenia don't they? and their oil is quite a bit cheaper.

Dealer, only ever been fleeced by S4P once, always managed to get parts cheaper from dealer and elsewhere since (although they do somethings have some good stuff in the S4P bargain Bin).

Does anyone know if Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 is suitable for the 2.0 MultiJet?

Alfa Romeo explicitly told me not to use it on my 1.6 JTD however it seems to be the right spec??

I was thinking about this stuff for my 1.9 sport even with no DPF it meets C2 and C3 spec so should be fine. I went for Shell in the end though as that met the specific FIAT 9.55535-S1 spec and it's what Ferrari recommends too so can't be too bad.
