Hello,

I'm thinking about doing this:

not allowed to post urls - some dude mounted nexus 7 in his subaru

to my 1.9 MJ EB&Me 8v 2010 Bravo.

Tablet I want to use:
acer iconia w510

I thought that about using some sort of mounting bracket to cover the existing radio with it, because I want to keep it. I also need to be able to take my tablet in and out of the car (living in Poland makes you believe in magic, cuz stuff tends to disappear)

That was the easy part. I want to make things a little more complicated:

1) Problem: I want to be able to use my steering wheel buttons to mute, increase/decrease volume, go to next song, so on on my tablet
solution: I thought about buying cheap bluetooth (tablet connection) keyboard that would be hidden in the glove department, with few buttons hard wired and then programmed in tablet to use certain functions of the software.
question: is it even possible? is there any easier way?
2) Problem: I would like to use car built in USB port to hook usb drive, or 3g modem to my tablet
solution: just take thing apart, chop the existing wire off, connect USB socket with regular usb --> micro usb wire, hook it up to the tablet via microusb
question: is it that simple?

thing is - my technical skills are like nonexistent with tendency to breaking stuff. Therefore I found a caraudio tuning company here in Poland, they are quite skilled, but also rather expensive with 0 Bravo experience.
They have quoted me, and price is steep. But they are assuming that there is a lot of experimenting involved.

I figured that if I tell them what to do (well actually I'm hoping that you guys could help me) it would be MUCH cheaper.

There are also some smaller issues - powering the tablet through cars lighter socket, hooking tablets jack to AUX so on...

Do you have aux input?

If no, you will need to cut the blue&me wires to create an aux inpu with a switch to switch between blue&me or aux.

it's easier to change music and volume with the tablet rather than using a bluetooth keyboard.

If you hook a usb drive of 3 modem to the tablet, you won't be able to plug the charger.
It's better to use the sd card for media and your cell phone in hotspot mode to share internet with the tablet.

I have the same setup but I use my phone instead of a tablet. I built a special holder on the dashboard for it.

good point

true, but I want to use the steering buttons to be able to do it - therefore I thought of BT keyboard as interface device between steering wheel and tablet

I'm thinking about hardwiring the tablet car charger into lighter socket

I disagree. cellphone hot spot uses WIFI, it depletes cellphone and mobile battery rather quickly. I also need to access data from USB drives and so on.

Battery shouldn't be a problem since you're in the car.

You can use a wired handfree kit with volume buttons. You can setup the volume buttons to switch tracks on long press. rewire the rocker to the steering wheel buttons.

You can't use a usb drive with the tablet while charging it.
