anybody manged to come up with an udgrade haedunit and got it to work with blue and me ?
or best to ditch blue and me and go with built in bluetooth in new head unit

but everyone has different tastes and budgets i guess.

Different tastes and budgets, that's a £600 head unit when it came out new, and in fairness the setup I have will probably blow the pants off of anything your planning! sound and function wise! Budget has nothing to do with looks. Fit a blank or tray if you don't want addition cup holders!

Whats this definative answer your seeking? You've basically asked the same question twice now, perhaps this thread should have been has anyone fitted a double din unit which looks fairly standard?

Jez, Lada look, please we drive Fiats not Bentleys!

We already told you that any double din headunit will work, what answer are you looking for?

I have a Clarion NX501E in my Bravo. I don't have Blue & Me or steering wheel buttons, so it was quite easy for me. Only had to install the mic and the gps antenna and of course the unit. It took the guy at Carsound (a danish car-hifi company) 1,5 hours to that and it looks great and works perfectly.
