Girlfriend was driving the car at a steady 70mph and the engine just loss power and started to slow then all of a sudden it regained power. This happened four times on the way home but hasn't done it again. The garage can't find the problem.
Any ideas?

ok thanks, I will suggest that to the garage when I call them again monday. Its under warranty until today so I cant pick it up until its sorted.

any other advice will be greatly received :)

let them have a look at the EGR as well (or DIY, its very easy) just to rule out an EGR on its way out

EGR was replaced by Fiat 6 months back :(

Erm obviously I don't like that the EGR was already replaced but I like that it is less likely to be the EGR... You know what I mean:bang: Think first press buttons later:p

The problem wasn't found and the problem never came back. But 9 months after having the EGR replaced I think it's getting blocked again. No power then sudden power gain at just over 2000 rpm. Not happy and want it blocked!

Please see my post in regards to cleaning it:

If you want it 'disabling' you will need to get the car re-mapped and can cost a couple of hundred.

Shane all parts are guaranteed for a year, if the car is starting to play up and it sounds like it could be the Egr take the car to the garage that did the Egr last time

So today it went into the garage to find the problem. Turns out it was the EGR but I had gone over the 12k warranty by 200miles meaning Fiat wouldnt replace! I made a blanking plate and blocked it off. It now drives fine. Now im just deciding whether to replace the EGR again or to have it mapped out so the engine management light doesnt appear. I have emailed a few companies for prices.
I'm happy I know the problem but p!ssed its the same problem. Cleaning the EGR didn't fix the problem.

Who gives you 12k waranty? Parts are covered per year. If you had a 12k car warranty and in that time the egr valve was replaced, it is covered by 12 months from replacement and not 12k mileage.. eu law..

oh amazing, the garage I had it checked at said 12 months or 12k, which ever comes sooner! I shall phone tomorrow to see if I can get it sorted! Thanks :)
