Hi. It turns out my egr valve is faulty and i need to replace it. However, would putting a blanking plate/gasket solve this problem instead of replacing it? As this is a bit costly!

Yes but you'd need the EGR valve deleting from the ECU or a remap. If you just blank it off you'll get errors and your engine management light will come on.

So unless you want to remap you might as well replace it. Check out shop4parts for prices Clicky

But if i clear the engine warning light, put on a blanking gasket, then will the engine warning light come back on again or not?

You will keep getting the warning regardless. There is sensors measuring the flow through the EGR valve so you need to have it deleted from the ECU, I spoke to my garage about this and they reccomended a remap to do this and boost my car to 200bhp.

Ahhh ok. extra bhp sounds good! How do u remap the car? If it cant b done how much does it cost roughly do u know? I have seen an egr valve for vauxhall that fits a bravo for half the price!

I fitted a blanking plate with holes drilled into it which gives best of both worlds.

It lets the car know its still there, but stops much going into it. Available on ebay etc.
