Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help. My freind has a bravo and is having problems. All the info I have is that it judders whilst ideling and has a knocking noise, I don't expect anyone to diagnose its just he has taken it to a fiat garage down where he lives in coventry and they think it could be clutch/flywheel issues or gearbox however he has been quoted £3500 for a new gear box if it is that ! Surly that price is wrong ?

I don't have any experience with bravos so any help and info would be appreciated

Thank you

Is the car a diesel with a DMF?
Is there any rattling when the clutch is depressed?
Does the clutch slip in high gears at low - medium revs?

Shop around for quotes based on the answers to the above question.

A new cog-box, DMF & Clutch might easily get to that price with labour costs...

I dont know which gearboxes from Stilos- if any-are interchangeable but there a few Stilos being broken in the W. Mids (ebay listings) and there are a few at Intapart in Daventry -not far from your pal. Someone on this forum should be able to advise on suitability once fuller details are posted .
In the meantime a second opinion on the car should be sought,I think?

im sure ive heard the 6th synchro is made of stuck together frosties after they've been in milk :D

Im i right in thinking this is the infamous M32 box used in the GP/Astra?

Thanks for all your replys, It is a deisel with a dmf the car drives fine it's just when ideling that it judders.

I dunno if I'd trust a second hand gearbox or not but it's handy to know if any others do fit. Is this a common problem with this car ?

I just thought that amount just for a gearbox was abit much, thanks for the confirmation though :)
