Hi,

as bizarre as it sounds the cruise control on my 08 Bravo 1.6 diesel only works in 3rd gear.

All aspects of the cruise control work: I can set it, increase / decrease using the stalk knob, deactivate with brake & clutch pedals and reset using RES button but only in 3rd gear ;o(

The manual for the car says it should only work in 4th or higher gears yet it works only in 3rd.

Any thoughts?

Is there a gear lever switch? The manual says: 'the memorised speed can be reset by selecting the gear the speed was memorised in', so I wonder if there's a gear lever switch and the car is not detecting 4th, 5th or 6th gear only 3rd.

Most commonly these days, the car's ECU determines which gear the car is in by comparing the RPM signal to the speed signal. Which leads to the question... is your clutch slipping?

thanks for that ;o) Don't think clutch is slipping. Seems a call to the dealer is the order of the day to see what they suggest.

Was going to say, if the clutch is slipping, surely the car would think it was in a lower gear rather than higher, as revs will be higher, so it would only work in say 5th and 6th

Old but still. I have the same problem...same car with same engine. Amy ideas? How did you solve the problem?
Also in multiecuscan i can see gear engage..first second third works..when i put in 4 5 or six it says neutral. I think car thinks that it is in neutral and so cruise does not work. But how to solve that?

Approximately same issue, swapped my 5-speed gear with a 6-speed gear on 8V engine ... cruise control not working on 6th gear.
