Technical Really loud creaking when braking or releasing handbrake.

I've got a 08 120 t jet bravo and it's making a really loud creaking noise when I brake or when I'm applying or releasing the handbrake. The other day the car still rolled when the handbrake was applied, and the brakes don't feel as responsive as they were. Any ideas ??

Could be a lot of things. Start with the obvious and check the brake fluid reservoir. Also when was it changed last? Brake fluid should be done every 3 to 4 years depending on mileage otherwise air bubbles begin to build up in it. Inspect the brake pads and look for any oil around the brakes denoting a possible leak of brake fluid.

I wouldn't know when or if it's ever been changed to be honest.Will try and check the brake pads somehow. If not its a garage job and lots of money spent cos it's doing my head in.
