Afternoon,

I have an 08 bravo 1.6 105 Dynamic. All of a sudden recently the gear stick has stopped automatically centering itself when in neutral. It needs a bit of a gentle push to get it back into the centre. They by product of this is that when changing gears it is far too easy to go from 2nd to 1st instead of 3rd. (Funny the first time but not so much now!!)

Any ideas on how to sort this out? I have a limited knowledge on these sort of areas but am a quick learner and willing to give it a go.

Cheers in advance.

I'd give this a few days - had the same issue a few months ago after I washed mine, a day later everything was fine and has been since. I'm guessing debris could be stuck in the spring, or as Tad says its gone kaputo.

See if it goes away as mine did if you can put up with it, may save you a trip to the garage. I do 80 miles a day so you may need to cover similar ground maybe.

There is a problem on the puntos, which suffer this problem when 2 plastic washers in the gear linkage bind stopping it springing back to the central point. Without knowing if the gearbox is the same, it does sound like a very similar fault

as far as i am aware the gear change is cable operated, my gearstick stuck solid when we had the big freeze and wouldn't move at all. This was due to a bit of water in the cables freezing. If it's under warranty they will replace. I just dripped a bit of oil onto the exposed cables under the engine bay and been fine ever since
