hi guys

i have owned several fiats in the past most recently being a 97 brave hgt the have owned a renaultsport megane for a year or so but spooted a 2007 bravo 1.4 tjet 150 full service 27000 at £4500 and was wondering about reliability any common problems running costs etc etc and also what they are like to live with on a daily basis

would appreciate any advice cheers

tony

No common major engine faults or anything like that. Nobody on here has had a castrophic engine failure yet so it's looking good. The car has some little niggles here and there, I'm sure others will fill you in with that.

On the other hand I just fried my turbo bearings, but that has nothing to do with the way the car was built, it was through my own stupidity. :p On the upperhand it means that I can buy a more powerful replacement turbo. ;)

have that model too (y)

bought at 2 1/2 years old and 37k miles, now on 67k miles

all i have done is get it serviced at 54k and replaced the discs and pads

does everything i ask of it and more

pretty economical if you drive it accordingly, OK if you thrash it

average 35mpg real world use, car tax is nearly £200 a year, and you need to fit good 'sport' tyres

i would say it is excellent vfm used buy and well equipped, well built from good quality parts

cheers for your responses appreciate the hints i was just asking about problems as couple years back i owned a 56 plate grande punto 1.9 m jet sporting and had alsorts of problems with it in the space of 6 months it was poss the worst car i ever owned and that hurts to say as im a fiat nut lol worst prob with that car was the gearbox went had to get it reconditioned and was never right after that i was told the engine and box in my gp were vauxhall units are there any known problems or faults with this car and model no matter how small

cheers tony

from what i understand the grande punto has a pretty lacklustre reliability reputation, although my mum has owned 2 and they have been faultless

i always recommend friends buy a bravo, put it this way i will probably replace mine with another one (y)

i also recommend the tjet rather than the diseasal!

Cheers for the advice well I must have got a bad punto lol ! It's the t jet 150 active I'm looking at on a 57 plate with 27000 miles on so I am v tempted ATM just waiting to see if the dealer will do the timing belt before I buy !!

Also does £4490 seem like a fair price for this car from a dealer ?

Cheers

best place to benchmark prices in ebay in my experience

i would have thought you would be able to get a Sport for that budget, and the Sport would be the one I recomend as it is well equipped and looks well on 17" wheels and tasteful spoilers

Accidentally on purpose springs to mind =P

I don't post on here very often but we have owned our 57plate 150TJet (inActive Trim) for just over three years.

It was 18months old when we got it and had 9K miles on the clock...now got 37K miles on it and had no issues. It’s a cracking little engine and a joy to drive. Always surprises me at how eager it is from such low revs, you could be forgiven for not realising its a Turbo, there is no lag at...although there really is no point taking the rev past 5K as the turbo is running out of steam at that point...although IMHO the gear box is a little vague and a bit lazy which detracts a little when wanting to make very swift progress which is a shame...if it was mounted to slick manual box then it really would be a great little car...but hey we paid £7K for it...there wasn't anything better for the same money and same age

Take one for a test drive, i think you will like it...

hi cheers guys have test driven the 1.4 t jet active and i think its a good car quite surprising tbh and the dealer has agreed to do the timing belt in with the price.

i have spent all day trawling sites looking for a sport and they all seem just out of our price range not many good ones under 5 grand with similar mileage as the active from the dealer i have to agree that the sport looks a lot better but just cant find one with low miles like the active from the dealer.

if anyone knows any different let me know am near burnley in lancashire dont mind travelling for the right car

cheers tony
