Hi All

I bought my Fiat Bravo 1.6 Multijet 105 Active about 8 weeks ago has been faultless and has been serviced all its life. 115k miles.

Today as I was on the dual carriageway the engine light came on and 'check engine' pops up. The car seems to drive fine just the light stays on. Tried turning off and on and it still bings on.

Do the 1.6 Multijet engines have EGR valves? I have read lots of threads saying it can be the EGR valve but not heard anyone say it has been on the 1.6?

Does anyone have any ideas, why it would just pop on?

Cheers

Andrew

P.S Typical after me saying to everyone how reliable it has been and after I spent 8 hours detailing it!

You can't know what the problem is until you get the fault code read by a garage or you can buy an OBD II device to diagnose the problem yourself.

two things you can do meanwhile :
- check all the fluids levels and look for greasy places in the engine bay.
- unplug the (-) cable from the battery, wait 5 minutes and then plug it back, see if the check engine light comes on again.

Your engine has an EGR valve, but if it was clogged to the point of showing a message, you'd have noticed a loss of power already.
