hi there, went to kwik s**t yesterday to get one of their free checks, as my fuel consumption of 33 mpg doesnt seem right on my 1.4 90hp. found out that i need a new system from the cat back, got a hole in the back box, and the flexi bit just after the cat is broken, quote is a sweet £267 for that fitted:eek:, seems expensive. i want an exhaust i can fit myself, and a lot cheaper, cant find a site on the interweb that can help. i just want to replace it for a oem part.

can some one piont me in the direction im looking for please

thanx

:bang:

33mpg you lucky blighter. I get 27mpg average.

Motorway driving I get about 40mpg, around town it drops to about 34, I highly doubt what kiwk fit are saying, it the felix and backbox have holes in them im 99% sure they would have been spotted on the last MOT

Kwakfit talk a load of cow's bottom produce! Shop around the net. Might find a stainless system for that price.

33mpg sounds about right to me if you are generally driving about town. I got around the same figure in mine and the high 30's/low 40's on motorway driving.

How does your exhaust sound just now. With it in such poor condition it should sound as if it's blowing (kinda like what a cheap sport backbox does on a chav's car).

Always remember with these free checks. They are never free. They are designed to get you in by making you think it's free then once in the will find the smallest thing wrong and start charging to make their money. I got a puncture on the way home from work one day and luckily or maybe unluckily it was as I passed a Kwik Fit. I got the puncture fixed and was offered a free brake test at the same time. After 10mins the guy reported back that my front pads were shown signs of wear and would need replaced very soon so if I wanted they would do it just now? I asked them if they could but to use a better manufacturer than the ones in as they were rubbish. "did they give poor braking" he asked. No I informed him. But they only gave me 50miles worth of use before they needed replacing!!!

I have never seen someone look so sheepish. He never uttered another word and I was on my way.

i made sure and went with the guy under my car when he was checking, i asked him to check the manifold first as thats what i thought it was. but yeah its shafted in all the places, he pionted them out. and the noise is quite chavvy and blowing quite alot. im getting less than 30 mpg now, and i usually use 20 quid a week to go to work, last week alone i used nearly 50.

i know kwik s**t talk s**t, so i am shopping around, but not alot of places recognise a bravo and ask if its a grunde punto, the cheek.

I would be interested in a stainless from the cat backwards, has my backbox got remarked at the last mot .

i wouldnt mind a stainless, but i like the peace and quiet when im driving, if i could get a stainless system thats exactly the same or very close to the current then i would deffo get it, other than that, i dont want exhaust noise anymore.

You'll get anything you want with stainless, probably made to your exact spec.

Same car. Honestly think mines just leaks fuel most the time rather than burn it.

leaks from where?

got a smile writing this, got a new exhaust today fro TMS, always cheapest, dont know why i go anywhere else. anyway, 140 quid all in, including courier charges from chiswick. get in, up yours kwik fit, you boys better put your masks back on for your next customer. fitting this weekend after a couple coats of paint.
