Hi there, I'm new to the forum and have had my '08 Bravo for 2 and a bit months. 43,700 miles, Diesel 1.6. 120bhp. Really like the car but it's developed a fault whereby it will every so often beep, the check engine light will come on and when I've taken it to a garage the fault code is p0091 - Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Control Circuit Low, and p0092 - Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Control Circuit High.

Sometimes, although not always, it goes into limp mode reducing power but this is fixed by pulling over and turning the engine off and back on again. The light remains but the car then seems to run fine.

It's under warranty from the place I bought it and last week the fuel filter was changed and a cleaning agent run through the system but that doesn't seem to have solved it.

Doesn't seem to be a common theme, has happened on really cold mornings and mild ones, at the start of journeys and an hour into a longish journey on B roads so at high and low speeds. Oil level is fine, it's due a service but the garage didn't see anything untoward.

What do you think?

Hiya,

I exactly got same problem with my fiat bravo. Can you please tell how did you fix it. I really really really appreciate your help.

Regards

Hi there

My issue was finally fixed last week and we've done 250 miles since so fingers crossed it's ok. We eventually found that the pressurised fuel pump was at fault. A £1,000 fix so not cheap.

Before that we'd replaced the fuel filters, fuel injector regulator and regulator sensors.

Good luck and get it into a Fiat dealer as soon as you can.

Hiya,

thank you so much for your repy.

I dont think i can afford 1000 on repairs. I rather sell it. :( so why is that so expensive? :( is pressurised fuel pump so expensive?

Did you fix it around in west yorkshire area? i rather prefer to take to the same dealer.

It is very frustating considering this is my first car in my life and its only been 2 weeks. :(

Once again thank you so much for your help.

Regards

Sorry to hear you've not had the car long. Did you buy it from a private seller or from a dealer?

If you bought it from a dealer you should have a three month guarantee covering any issues.

The people who looked after us were S.G. Petch in Middlesbrough. What model is your Bravo? 1.6? Luckily for me the cost was covered by the dealer I bought from as it happened while my car was covered by their 3 month warranty. Dodged a bullet there.

Good luck!

Hey,

NO I got it from an auction and unfortunately it doesn't cover any warranty. Yes it's 1.6 diesel, 08 plate, active multijet Eco model and exactly the same problem as you described it above.

So did you actually replaced fuel pump?

I took it to the garage and they said fuel pressure regulator (due to code: p0091), and quoted me 300quid.

But after reading your post I'm not very convinced it is that. Could you please tell me what exactly have you changed, maybe I can see if they can check that specific part.

You can text me or contact me: 07857546019 or email: [email protected],

thank you so much again for your help. It is very nice of you.

Thanks

Hey there

I'll drop you a mail if you like but would rather include detail here for others who might be having the same problem if that's ok :)

A dealer changed the pressure regulator at a cost of about £300 and in my case it wasn't that. They'd also changed the fuel filter - 3 times in the end, run a cleaning solution through the fuel system and changed the fuel pressure regulator and pressure sensor. Then the same thing happened again.

If they're not a main dealer I'd advise you to get it to them and get them to check it out. Mine lit the Fiat diagnostic equipment up like a Christmas tree with more errors than simply the p0091 code that Halfords were able to see - they were great incidentally but advised almost immediately it should go to a specific Fiat dealer.

Once it's there when they look at it on proper equipment if it's the same issue as with mine then a fault should show in and around the fuel tank. That tells them it's the fuel pump. That's as much detail as I know. If you call SG Petch in Middlesbrough and explain that you think it's the same issue as mine they should remember because my case was complex and they had to get authorisation from another dealer in London to pay for the work. If you call them now you should be able to speak to someone who could advise you. It was only fixed in the last 2 weeks.

Hiya,

That is very helpful. Once again thank you so much for your help. I'll ring them tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes. There is no fiat dealer in Leeds, I'll also check the closest one.

Thanks again, I'll keep you posting. Ta

Hi there I'm having the same problem with my fiat if I don't get it sorted straight away how much damage will it do and how much was just the feul regulator.
