Have been quoted between £420 and £450 so far for a timing belt change and water pump. Doesnt include an MOT or service so seems rather expensive.

What is the price I should be looking for?

Try looking for a fiat and alfa specialist locally, perhaps look in AutoItalia or do a websearch

I have the same engine as you and got mine done at Arnold Clark (Fiat) and paid £235 for timing belt and tensioners plus the water pump.
