Hi All,

I have been having a few issues with power loss on mt 58 Plate TJet 150.

When accelerating the power seems to just disapear, I put the throttle to the floor but no change until I release the throttle and the power returns.

I see that an similar issue seems to exist with the M-Jet. Has anyone had the same problem with the T-Jet and know of a fix???

Thanks All

No warning lights on the dash, the revs seem to be below 2500rpm, when running along the motorway it runs sweet when on Cruise Control.

Definatley not heavy footed, happens when pulling off with under 2000 rpm, and seems to happen more when having turned left, (at least 180 deg turn of the wheel).

It does also happen occasionally when already moving at normal dribing speed.

i think what you are describing is being 'off boost', use more revs and be lighter on the throttle when pulling off

If i am any lighter on the throttle I may aswell push the car :-D.

The issue is not to do with driving style, when the issue happens, until i step off the throttle (even if pressed very lightly) the power does not restore, but when it happening i can push the throttle to the floor and nothing happens, well on one or two occassion the power has gradually restored.

I feel this is some sort of blockage but am at a loss where to start without having to spend ££££ at a garage

take it to a fiat specialist and get it diagnosed then (y)
it will cost less that £100 to get this report

Check the brake light switch, it gets stuck (your brake lights will stay on after the brake pedal is released) this tells the ecu that you are braking and accelerating so it overrides the accelerator and cuts the throttle.

Hi, i'm from Poland and i have the same problem with my car. When accelerating the power dissapeared, after I realese the throttle and put again power come back.
The car was diagnosed on Fiat and on computer every think is ok (no errors) so they replace: clutch, turbocharger, exhaust manifold, ECU, brake light switch, fuel injectors, fuel pomp, fuel rail, lambda probe and anything change. It's great car but... i want my power back.

Sorry for my english:)

only way to diagnose properly is drive while plugged into diagnostics

brake light switch is a good place to start, usually when a brake light switch sticks on the ECU doesnt like the mixed message, and often in cars will give a weird throttle response with power. however o/p says its ok on cruise control. if brake lights where stuck on, the cruise control wouldnt stay on, as flicking the brake lights is one way of knocking off the cruise control

I had the same thing in my abarth which is same engine they did a update on ecu and seemed to fix it. But on a whole my tjet has been a bit of a nightmare and thats why I just sold it. Maybe just had a bad apple hopefully more luck with multijet alot less to go wrong then my abarth.

All,

Thanks for the responces, the breake switch sounds promising, the troubled car is heading to the garage in a few mins so will reporty back as to the problem/cause

Thanks Again

OK, car back from garage and no further forward as they did not have the diagnostic tools needed to test the ECU......

So can anyone give me a quick guide to checking the brake switch???

Thanks again as always

Hi All

Sorry for the lack of updates.

Well its seems that I have fixed the issue, intially I fiddled with the brake switch and the issue went away for a week or two but then it came back.

So with my head in the foot well and my arm behind the pedl I managed to fully remove the brake switch, with a little help from some pliars I managed to extend the brake switch pludger which ws fully compressed.

The plunger has been pulled out around half its full length and I think I have fnally struck gold,

If it des come back which i relly doubt I will let you know.

Thanks for the advise from all
