Hi friends,

Been around in the forum, and cannot seem to get an answer to my issue.

Bought a Connect Navi+ from Italy and tryed to install it today, all seem to go ok, radio working CD working, Mp3 working.

My 2 issues are:

1. I need to change language from Italian to English, tryed to DL the Setup disc, but nothing happens when I try to change the language, it will just go back to Italian .... how can I fix this issue ?

2. The GPS is working I can see that (longitude and altitude changing fast while driving), but the map seem to stuck always, only updating very very poorly (like every 30 seconds or so). I have tryed to burn the map (DL from gpsunderground.com) on different speeds, but its still the same....

Mp3 player working fine, CD player working fine, so it cant be a faulty laser....

In the "Azzistenza" menu (the hidden menu) it says my FW is
VERSIONE SW: 01N198L4012.4

So friends, what can be wrong and what can I do to solve me 2 issues ?

Best,

Peter

The information from your "Azzistenza" menu indicates that the unit has firmware version 12.4 installed. This version is for the NIT G2 versions of CN

All Bravos use the NIT G2 version instead of the earlier NIT G1 version that was used in the Stilo. The map discs for NIT G1 and NIT G2 are different and the Set Up disc used to change the language is probably also different. I suspect that nothing happens when you try to change the language because you have used the wrong Set Up disc.

If you are also using a NIT G1 map disc, that may explain why it's not updating correctly.

Update: got my hands on a G2 disc which should be working with Fiat G2 Connect as well:

http://gpsunderground.com/forum/peugeot-citroen/3838-rt-3-4-5-maps-v-2010-2011-europa.html

--- BUT its the same issue.... when I put CD in it will show the map, but only update very very poorly in the start, and then for a while almost stuck not updating only around every 30 seconds or less.... it cant be the laser in the unit, since it plays both CDs and MP3 flawless with no issues....

Cant be the GPS too, since when I take out the CD the longitude etc will change coordinates every second or so, and when I put the CD back in and press INFO the coordinates will freeze just as the map also freezes.

What can I do from here, anyone tryed the same ?

Best,

Peter

The link you've posted is for the Blaupunkt RT3, RT4 and RT5 TravelPilot units, not the Magneti Marelli Connect Navs.

I've checked the Fiat parts catalogue. The Setup disc for NIT G2 units originally fitted to Bravos produced before 15/05/2009 is the same as the NIT G1 disc.

It depends on the production date of the car your CN+ came from whether the NIT G1 Setup disc will work in it.

As I posted in post #2 above "The map discs for NIT G1 and NIT G2 are different"

There's also further confusion because later Bravo units used a memory card instead of discs for the map data. Do you know the production date of the car your unit came from? If not, post the part numbers from the label on top of the unit and I'll try to find out for you.

You may have an error in the Setup disc. What files are on your disc?

You may not be using the Setup disc correctly. How are you using the setup disc?

You may not have the correct NIT G2 map disc(s). What Country and year disc do you have? and what files are on it?

You may have bought a faulty Connect Nav unit.

Hi,

For the language, I put the setup CD inside the unit and try, go in the menu

MY CAR
THEN PRESS "LINGUA"
THEN CHOOSE ENGLISH IN "LINGUA MENU"
AFTER THAT PRESS "OK"
THEN THE SYSTEM WILL COME WITH ERROR "CAMBIO SETUP FALLITO" AND TURN BACK TO ITALIAN

on the disc (named MM_STP_01_00_02) is
2 folders "RDSTMC" and "VOC"
Inside the RDSTMC is CCODE1 until CCODEF folders and files
DEVEDA.COD
DEVEDE.COD
etc etc

Inside the VOC is folders called
DU
FR
GE
IT
PO
SP
UK
withs some files called
DIGITS.VOC
TOT_HP.ENC
TIT_RG.ENC
TOT_VR.ENC
WORDS.VOC

for the maps I tryed the links I made above for the G1 maps:

http://gpsunderground.com/forum/alf...01-navteq-connect-nav-europe-2010-2011-a.html

and for the G2 maps:

http://gpsunderground.com/forum/peugeot-citroen/3838-rt-3-4-5-maps-v-2010-2011-europa.html

(I was told in GPSunderground.com on this link that these G2 maps for Peugeot and Citroen could be used for G2 Fiats and Alfa 159):

"MM_STP_01_00_02" is the NIT G1 Setup disc and the files you list are the same as on my disc. If you are using the correct procedure, It should work on your NIT G2 CN+.

This is the procedure to change the language on the Stilo. It should be the same on your Bravo but some of your buttons may be labeled differently.
  1. Switch the ignition on.
  2. As soon as the CN+ starts, insert the Setup CD and allow the CN+ to boot up normally.
  3. Read and clear any warning messages using the “ESCAPE” button.
  4. Press "SETUP" then "LANGUAGE" then choose your language.
  5. Highlight “OK” then press “ENTER” to accept the new language.
  6. Read and follow the warning messages as appropriate. When complete, press “ESCAPE” to clear the final message.
  7. Eject the Setup CD.
The map disc you have is for the Blaupunkt RT3, RT4 and RT5 TravelPilots fitted to some Peugeot and Citroen cars. If it was suitable for Fiats and Alfa 159 it would say so on the box. It only says Peugeot and Citroen on the box.

If you are convinced it is the correct disc for your CN+, I suggest you ask someone on that site why it doesn't work.

For the setup and language change, basically I did that as well as you write... unless there is a super special timing when I can put the disc in ? Before the Fiat logo comes on or ? I will play some more with this tomorrow, since I do not think I saw any kind of warning messages at all ...?

Regarding if the RT3 maps work, somebody did confirm they did for Alfa 159 here on this link:

http://gpsunderground.com/forum/alfaromeo-fiat-lancia/5271-nit-g2-connect-alfa-romeo-159-a.html

So I guess I am stuck now ? ... noone seem to have the maps for the G2 Connect+ Fiat systems ... only on ebay for 150 EUR :(

Already imagine my mood if I spend 150 quit more and then same result ... damnnnn

Hi,

Played with the setup CD today ... even I put it in by startup, it will never detect the CD.... it will just write "No CD-DA" in the upper rightcorner.... no error messages at all.... this is strange too right ?'

Well that answer I cannot use for much, if I wanted a Pioneer I would have bought it, but I like the smooth original look and would never install an aftermarket radio in the car.

If you have something usefull to post, pls do that next time :)

Jesus man, calm down.

The unit will work, and I seek help here to make it work.

And like I said, if I wanted an aftermarket unit I would have done that... its not the issue in this thread....

Yeah, problem is the Italian guy I bought it from thinks all is fine... anyway since i have not been able to find the maps for the unit online, and it might help to use an original disc, I will give this a shot before fighting more with him ... cross the fingers :)

I have read in other post that the unit need extra ignition switch, could this maybe influence that I cannot read the setup CD ? I have not done an extra ignition 12V at this stage.....
