What should I be paying for supply & fit of replacement Body Control Unit?
Independent Fiat specialist has identified this as the cause of my problems - intermittent loss of power steering & security & battery lights illuminating.

a small fortune to be fair BC has to be coded to your car and if its the same as the alfa 147 has to be purchased through Fiat, your looking around £1000+ at a guess

if you got one from a scrap car you would need every control unit, injectors, fuel pump and multiple other bits to make it work with your car, not to mention a key so its not even worth looking down that route

Have they said exactly whats wrong, does seem very very odd for a BC to go so early on a car, could just be a poor earth or something of that nature rather than needing a new control unit

My man has ruled out the alternator - alternator still charging with the battery & security lights illuminated.

A couple of times the car wouldn't start, guages didn't move & central locking/power windows wouldn't work.

Cost to supply & fit the Control Unit is £630. Dealer cofirmed that the part is over £500 (not that I doubted the price quoted).

Fiat UK won't a consider goodwill payment unless the car's with one of their dealers.

I'm thinking about trading it in, although I do really like the car (150 Mjet Dynamic).
