Everything was fine Friday night, Saturday morning I went out and there was a significant loss of power, especially pulling away. Cruising at 60mph it seemed reasonably OK but not as responsive and not nearly as much 'grunt' as usual.
I gave it a good hard push in 3rd, sudden stutter and MIL light on.
Readout: P0238 Turbo/Super Charger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit High.
To cut a long story short, I cleared the code, reproduced the fault and it cleared again but still low power. I checked the vacumn pipe from the turbocharger actuator back to the black covered control unit at the flywheel end of the engine and all fine.
However, the middle of the three rubber pipes going into the unit was torn, just a short ripped end pushed onto the control unit. Thinking that the pipe might have been a gauging point I plugged the open end with a Christmas tree bulb and 'voila!' It's all fine again, power back and response just as it always was.
So... My question is what is this pipe and what should it look like?
