Technical K&N filter fitted fine but BULBS WTF!?

How about telling us how you did it and what Xenon effect bubls you are using, spare some of us the same problem eh? Or you don't like sharing:))

Of course I don't mind sharing. The thread was not for discussing bulbs, but about mounting them, so I didn't went into details until someone (you) asked... :)

Anyway, here's the info: I am using Philips BlueVision series bulbs for both main beam (H1) and sidelights (W5W). I must say these are pretty close to my low beam's color, which is 4300K. Don't have images though, so you'll have to take my word on this :) For colder colors I assume these would not work so well. Maybe up to 5000K they'll be fine, but I cannot guarantee.

For my fog lights (H11) there is no BlueVision option available, so I went for Philips CrystalVision 4300K Bright White. These are too greenish for my taste. Still much closer to the HID than the factory yellowish ones, but not as good as the BlueVision series as they emit some green/blue (more green) light. I could have tried the Osram alternative, but I am not going to invest more in bulbs. There's an option (easy, they say), to fit H9 bulb into a H11 socket and thus: a) save money and b) chose from wider variety of bulbs, but I haven't tried it.

Hope this helps :)

i have to say the bravo has the easiest access to the lamps Ive ever seen, and there so simple to get out im surprised they don't fall out!

Maybe the M-JET engine bay is laid out differently.

In any case, I eventually did manage to change them, but to my disappointment, the bulbs are pretty much the same brightness as the old ones despite the claims...

Given the free space under the MJet's bonnet (you know, with the tractor's engine inside and everything) I would say bulbs may be harder to change on MJets...But it's probably the same.

What bulbs did you get? Osram Nightbreakers give massive difference, but for a bit shorter life...Now when you know the drill, you may try them some day :) I guarantee you much better light compared to factory candles.

It was nightbreakers that I put in! and seriously, I would be lying if I said there was a noticeable change! Maybe it's just because on my old bravo I had 6K HID's and they were REALLY bright.

Hi mates,

Here's my "changing of the bulps - captains log" ;)

One of the main "near" light bulps was dead... so i bought two new and better ones (Phillips something).

First I thought the dealer gave me the wrong ones but after having pulled one out and confirmed that the manual states that I should use an older type bigger bulp and the manual is lying! I then began the dreaded task of changing the two bulps.

:(

Now... the first one ( the one without battery and windshield cleaner tank mashed up against it.) was unclipped and went off pretty easily this is where I stated that the manual WAS in fact lying to me ... the old one matched the new ones :D ...and then I dropped the freaking thing down into the engine bay :bang: oh nooooo!

Never mind.. it was done for anyhoo... so I inserted the new one and hooked it up... pretty easy I must say.

On to the one in the evil side  ... got the clip off ..pretty easy as I now knew how to ;) ... then wtf.... besides the cable for the bulp another cable was now loose... and I couldnt really see where it should go since ...everything blocked my view.

hmmm..... well... went back to the easy side and found out where the other one belonged - back to  and with some crazy finger gymnastics I managed to reconnect the extra cable... insert the new bulp ... recconect and re-clip it.

Phew... now ...it still bugged me that I had an old bulp lying around on the floor of the engine bay.. and again with some determination and a long type of food pincers I managed to get the bloody thing up and out :slayer:

All in all took med about half an hour ... no hand scratches ... patience and fingers like medusas headgear ...is key :p

Now the Stormtrooper actually lights up the road in front of it :D

Cheers

I'm thinking about changing to osram nightbrakers myself. So, what are the bulb types the bravo has? H1 for low beam and H7 for high?
