With a heavy heart I will be saying ciao to my black beauty today. My dependable Nuovo which has taken me over 62,000 miles will be leaving today. The reasons are purely financial, which makes the decision so much harder as I know my situation is improving. But you cannot pause life for a month or two - so this needs to be done now.

My experience of Bravo ownership has been 3 1/2 years of the greatest motoring of my life. Nuovo has taken me across Europe, and into the final for the Ecodrive GP. It's had some little problems - but the car never let me down, and the inconvenience was forgiven the second I got back into the car.

I won't be leaving the Fiat fold, the Croma is still about and I will be restoring to the road the Milkbottle. But for now at least, my Bravo adventure is on hold.

Thanks for all the advice, comments and general good humoured banter which has made this part of the forum such a nice place to be.

Arrivederci means goodbye...

Do you mean au revoir? Which means to see again?

Yes, Nuovo can't speak french. So I let the funky music do the talking, talking.... wait that's Girls Aloud.

You will be proud to know that due to the super-blowout the car will be actually going on "your spare wheel", with the busted tyre and wheel in the boot.

I think from now on I'll call the spare wheel on any car 'the neilshep'. :D

Sorry to hear, i am very similiar, recently departing with my bravo after 2 1/2 years. I also travel the whole of europe with it, overall a very reliable car. Ive stuck to italy with the Abarth, maybe one day i'll jet a bravo again:D

Well you've been a great help Hellcat over the years, just make sure you pop in every now and again to say 'hi'.

It's not easy to explain, but I can try.

see you again = ciao (if we are friends, it's non-formal)
see you again = arrivederci (it's very formal and expresses respect)

goodbye = addio

In English the word "goodbye" is very common and friendly.
Instead in Italian "addio" is very strong, it sounds like "this is the last time we meet till the end of our days" :devil:

So that's why "goodbye" can be translated with the formal "arrivederci" or with the non-formal "ciao", but it isn't grammatically correct. (y)
