Technical Bonnet Lifters

Yup, just got mine through this morning! =) you should be on commision twincamms lol

Going in later today (y)

P.S. - Update on the boot lifters; they're asking for very exact measurements etc, so I'm soing them today, not looking too hopeful though as they are facing downwards (n)

Just gave them a go, seem easy enough to fit, apart from the ball and socket don't fit on the bottom part? the top 'clicks' in like it should, but however much grease/force i give it, It just won't go in on the bottom. (And yes I've taken out the pins before you say it). It's as though the spring-clip inside won't open. I'd say it's knakered but it's on both so I can only assume it's me doing something wrong!

EDIT: I've managed to bodge it on for now by taking out the spring-clips in the socket. They definitely work! Bit too powerful really! It doesn't half fly up quickly!

Enzo, I had no such problem, both ball joints fitted witout any issue whatsoever, maybe you got a duff set or perhaps you haven't lined them up correctly, they shafts do turn in alternate directions in the pistons allowing better line up.

As for the power, I thought that they were too strong but once you've set them up, greased them, lifted and closed them in a controlled manner twenty or thirty times consecutively they do settle down.

Good luck!

I'm having a bit of a problem with one as well. I'm also a little concerned about the lower mounting point flexing. I'll sort it on Saturday, weather permitting.

The only tools I used were a 3/8th ratchet, 100mm extension and 10mm deep socket, that's it.

Make sure you tighten the bonnet bolt up tight and the bonnet doesn't slip, it must be the same for alignment reasons, you'll see if it moves cause you'll see primer behind the bracket, I did it alone but it would be easier if someone held the bonnet at maximum opening whilst you tension the top bolts.

Also, use loctite locknut on the bolts, particularly the bottom ones that fasten into the wing bracket.

Make sure to grease the ball joints and the sliding shaft and all will be a-ok!

hi,

A couple of questions

Where do you need to use the deep socket and extension ?

Is there a captive nut built in the bonnet for the bolts from the brackets ?

Regards

BUMP !!!

anyone ?

There is a captive nut on the bonnet for the bonnet hinge. On the other end, its just one of those coarse thread screws into the flange on the outer/inner wing. All you need is a suitable ring spanner. A deep socket would just allow you to use a ratchet.

I tried these lifters, and took them off, as I wasn't happy with the lower attachment which flexed too much!

Hiyah all!

I've been researching this for some time and I found that you can buy some that are custom fit. I fitted them in less than an hour, no faffing around, fitting kit and instructions included and they are pretty good value, I'm pleased with them, comments please..........

just wondeing how long they are, as i might have some already, and also do u know were i can get the ones that make ya boot open itself

cheers
