Poor MPG even after new EGR

Was having problems with the Bravo losing power. Gambled on it being the EGR and fortuantely it was - the car is now running as smooth and as quick as it ever was.

MPG went through the floor when was having problems and hope putting new EGR would fix it. Unfortuantely not, Still around 44mpg even doing motorway miles. Car is 1.9 120.

Any ideas what else it could be?

have tried having hte battery disconnected for a couple of hours. Didnt seem to make any difference to MPG.

The reading is from the OBC, however, before EGR prob it was always around 55 doing exactly the same stlye of driving.

Thanks

Re: Poor MPG even after new EGR

Hi Venturer. I also have a 1.9 diesel 120bhp. Mine has always done between 44 -48 mpg. I drive nearly 80 miles a day mixed roads. However I am quite heavy footed.

This car does get driven hard, but even then it returned 54mpg!

Re: Poor MPG even after new EGR

My 120 mjet is getting 600miles before hitting the red, provided I fill up a Tesco. Any other fuel gives me much less, about 530 before red. That includes Shell, Sainsburys and BP diesel. I cannot figure out why there is such a difference. Same route, same driving style (not hard, not overly carefull). It's only over the last month or so.

Btw, I know that the fuel shouldn't make much difference, especially Tesco fuels. I'm perplexed but not complaining!

Think a bit of a mix up...at 54 I wasn't complaining! That's what it used to be...it has dropped to 44 now!

Shouldn't happen because Tesco and Sainsbury fuels are the exact same. They use the same 3rd party supplier for both.

I know it shouldn't, that's what is so odd about it. There is no logic that I can fathom. I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.
