Technical Losing Power

Technical Losing Power

I think I had a similar problem, nothing nothing, woosh. Just had a big service and everything is much smoother now. Could this be related to service items then (if not egr)? Oil, filters or something similar? I didn't mention anything at the time as it was only after the service that i really noticed. Just a thought.

it could be I guess. It is bloomed in for a service so will se how it goes after. This is really noticeable though, was yours? I mean nothing whatsoever, even struggling to pull away!

Thanks

Hi All

According to Auto Data on line (Known Fixes Section) there is a restrictor plate available for the EGR valve its part number is: 71751468.

Might be the answer to our EGR problems

Regards Kelvin

Well, had the EGR cleaned out...and...still exactly the same. The valve itself wasn't too badly sooted up, so at a loss now.

Problem exactly as you describe though. No power, crawl along, yawn, 2500rpm.. Weeeeeeee.... And then you fly.

Any more ideas anyone?

Thanking you!

The problem is not always just the valve being sooted up, but the actual solenoid gets seized in.
Have a look at this thread on how to recondition them.

Hope this helps :)

Does anyone know the cheapest place to get a new EGR from?

I have had a look at the above, have had it cleaned out and it still isnt working. Not confident enough to mess around with the solenoid, and don't know anyone else with a similar car that I can try it on.

Any way if I can test if it is the EGR? Did I read correctly somewhere that you can block it off somehow?

Don't really want to have to take it to Fiat.

Thanks again for your help all.
