Hi all, just joined the site and need a bit of assistance please.

I need to do an oil filter change on my '58 Diesel Bravo 1.6 120Bhp. I believe it's an 'inline' filter? Can someone please tell me whereabouts I find this in the engine bay, and if there are any tricks or hints for getting to it easier? I guess it's in a pipe somewhere but have no idea where to start looking.

Also, in the service book it says the filter only needs changing when the display says so, or every two years if the vehicle has a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Does anyone know if my vehicle would have this?

Thanks in advance
Matt

Its in the most annoying/stupid place ever!!!

It has a cover over the filter which hides it very well and makes it hard for noobs like me.

Its situated on the front of the engine under some tube...

I know its a very bad way of describing it. I dont have a picture to show you.

I'll see if i can google pictures

See how there is a red "R" text going over the picture? Well there are some hoses going around there under that there will be a cap like cover made out of some material. That needs to be removed then the filter is under that. Hope that helps...

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. Why did I have a feeling that it would in the most awkward place possible?!

My engine bay is a bit different though, maybe a different year or model?
All the turbo gubbins seem to be at that side of the engine, whereas yours seem to be more central. Also the dipstick is in a different place?

Also, do you know about the whole DPF thing by any chance?

Thanks again

Matt

i have a 1.9 m-jet so mite be slighty different but il tell you where mine is,first you have to take the undertray off, then if you get under neath and look up near the front and you should see it under a metal cover, the way i got mine off was by take the 2 lower nuts off first, then bend the cover up,you just have enough space to take the oil filter off then bend the cover down and take the top nut off,and this will give you easy access to put the new oil filter back on, i haven't put mine back on because its a pain in the ass lol

maybe this isn't the right way but it the way i got mine off

hope this helps

Hi everybody !!

On 1.6 Mjet, the oil filter is behind the engine close to the frame on the right side of the car...
It is easier to change by undoing the right wheel and its plastic protection.

Cheers

This engine is the Tjet petrol engine not the Mjet diesel.

Here are the pictures...Taking off the cover is the same for diesel and gasoline, the second picture named diesel is with the picture of diesel oil filter.I hope it helps.

Hi guys 1.6MJ 120 2010 reg.
Not needing to change oil at the mo, but just looking to be prepared!
Is this the oil filter in my car?! Take it then that its a case of unscrewing the plastic top part and there's a paper element inside that needs to be replaced? That's a big nut - 32mm?? maybe - but it's plastic, anyone had any probs getting it off?
Other thing was, any recommendations as to how often the oil should be changed - can't quite work out if this shows up on the dash on this car - is my old fashioned six months/6k miles (or 12 months/12k for the long life stuff) too long or too short?
Thanks.

Intervals should be ok, but be careful on the oil specs... do some more digging on what your engine requires.
The filter looks the same as on my t-jet so it should be a 27mm. I use a socket with a ratchet.

Hi folks.
So worked out where the oil filter is and what to do with it, but still struggling with whether my car has the DPF (which I think has a bearing on the spec of the oil to be used?). Can't see anything definitive in the handbook and unfortunately don't have any invoices for previous servicing. From reading through posts on the forum I think it does have dpf (1.6mj 120 2010 year), but would like to confirm and if anyone could help that would be great.
Cheers.
